FAQ

Should we wait until the battery is completely discharged to recharge it?
Yes and no, during the first use of a new battery, it is preferable to perform the operation during the first 4-5 charges,
to "break in" the battery. Today the batteries are designed so that the partial charges have no impact on their service life.

What is the life of a battery?
The life of the battery is reduced according to the number of charges / discharges and the period of use.
The battery capacity decreases even if the battery is not used.
In order to prolong the life of the battery, please pay particular attention to the following points.
- Charge the battery with the method of
appropriate loading, and keep it in a suitable place.
- Charge the battery when using the bike
for the first time or do not use the electric bike for some period.
- The desired temperature for charging is between 10 ° C and 30 ° C.
Warranty, a remaining capacity of 60% of the original rated capacity is guaranteed after two years, provided that the battery has been used and charged in accordance.

What should I do with my battery if I do not use it a lot?
It is better to at least load it (even if the battery is full) once a month so that it is solicited and can last longer in time.

Can I ride in the rain with my electric bike?
Of course ! They are all protected by a waterproof case, which makes it easy to ride in the rain! However, you should never immerse the motor and other electrical devices at risk of short-circuiting them.

In case of heavy rain, remove the battery from the bike when it is parked outside, Also, when you carry your electric bike on a bike carrier in the back of your car, be careful not to leave the battery on the bike. Indeed, we consider that the wind at 130 km / h mixed with the rain equals a jet of water under pressure!
Ideally, protect the bike, Screen (display) with a waterproof cover, or plastic bag!!!

Do I have to charge my battery after each trip?
No, If you only make small trips, it is not necessary to restore it after each use. You can see the charge level of the battery directly on it or on your display (control screen).

I'm out of battery, can I ride anyway?
Of course ! An electric bike is a bike, if you are flat, there are no worries, you can continue to ride, it will not interfere with the practice of cycling itself.

Can I ride the roads with my E-fati?
Yes ! No problem, just like a classic bike so you can indulge in your favorite practices in the paths with your E-fati.

Which battery to choose?
Experience shows that most people are completely satisfied with the standard 48V 20Ah  960Wh battery. It usually provides more than enough power and autonomy.

Factors that determine autonomy

- The capacity of the battery
This capacity is obtained by multiplying the battery hour intensity (Ah) with its voltage (V).
Currently, a midrange battery is 36V and 10Ah, for a total of 360 Watts / hour.

- How to calculate watt hour of a battery?
To find out this quantity of energy (which is expressed in Watt-hours (Wh), multiply the capacity by the battery voltage: Ah x V = Wh > 20Ah x 48V = 960Wh.
This notion is not to be confused with the nominal 500 W motor power.

- Your weight
it is mainly the weight of the cyclist that influences the autonomy of the bike.
Because where the difference between a heavy bike and a light one is from 5kg to 10kg, the difference between a heavy and a light cyclist can be around fifty.

- Electric assistance
Electric assistance is what determines how much the bike's engine will help you when you pedal.
the more the electric motor helps you, the more it needs to consume electricity in the battery. Thus, if you want to increase the autonomy of your bike, stay a maximum in the low levels of assistance and activate the highest levels only when you really need it (steep slope or when you are very tired for example) ).

- The type of course
If you plan to use your bike only on roads with a steep slope, the electric assistance will have to help you much more than on flat roads.
So, the higher the course you will achieve will have altitude, the less autonomy of your bike will be great.

What speed can I reach?
All E-fati electric bicycles are Swiss compliant, which means that the pedaling assistance can not bring you to more than 25 km / h, to exceed this speed you will have to press the pedals!

Unclamping my E-fati?
Unbridled E-fati is no longer under warranty (neither by the manufacturer nor by the store).
Unbridging his electric bike will invalidate the homologation of it, and totally forbidden on public roads.

What maintenance for an electric bike?
Since a power-assisted bicycle differs very little from a conventional bicycle, to avoid any problem, care must be taken to maintain all the elements that make it up. We are talking here about the chain, the gables or the cassette. Not to mention the pads or brake pads, tires and others.

In this case, it must be remembered that the cycle part of an electric bicycle is almost identical to that of a conventional bicycle. As a result, maintenance operations can be done in exactly the same way.

However, it must be taken into account that an electric bicycle runs faster and therefore, its parts are much more solicited. Controlling and maintaining your E-fati more frequently is necessary.
Frequency of interviews revisions every 1500 Km
Among the things you should not neglect:

- Oil the chain
-
Check the wear of the chain approximately every 1500 - 2000 km. Wear at 0.75 to preserve the other components
- Check brake wear
- Check the pressure and condition of the tires Fat 20 x4.0  1.8 Bar / SU 20 x 2,125 3.5 Bar
- Check the tightness of the bolts and screws
- Check the tightness of the pedals and cranks
- Control the tension of the spokes

A good cleaning of your electric bike?
Finally, we must not forget that to properly maintain his E-fati, a good cleaning is also necessary on occasion. The accumulation of dirt can cause premature wear of some parts as well as their malfunction. Here, you just have to do what you would do with a classic bike. Keep in mind that this cleaning is always intended to rid your mount of dust, mud, snow or any other dirt that may have accumulated. To do this, a simple cleaning with soapy water is enough. On the other hand, it is strongly disadvised to wash your bike using high pressure jets. This can damage some mechanical and electronic parts of the bike.

Do we have to purchase specific insurance for an E-FATI?
No, you do not need special insurance for your E-FATI power-assisted bike. You certainly have a "Civil Liability" insurance coupled with your home insurance: it is sufficient.

However, some buyers are looking to insure their bike more fully against theft given the price of a pedelec.

In case of repair, do I have to call E-FATI Center?
No Our electrically assisted E-Fits are equipped with standardized parts that are easily found in specialized resale points. It is however necessary to use our services for the replacement or repair of specific parts (batteries, electric motor, conroller, Screen)
Tel 032 544 41 18.

Is it possible to use it on bike paths?
Yes The E-FATI power-assisted bicycle is in the category of cycles. It is therefore strongly recommended to use the bike paths when you have the opportunity thus promoting the safety of users.

Should I wear a helmet with an E-FATI electric bike?
No As with all bicycles, wearing a helmet is not mandatory. However, it is strongly recommended for the safety of users.

Control the spoke tension?
Rays that click on the motor wheel
The recommendation is to restore tension after a few tens of km when the bike is new.

How to break in his disks or pads?

Break-in is an important step.
Unfortunately, this is too often overlooked at the expense of brake performance.
Vibrations or squeaks may appear if this operation is poorly performed.

1.Make a series of 20 braking contents from 20 to 5 km / h.
It is important not to stop between two braking to ventilate the disc and stirrup.

2. Then stop to cool down your brake for 15 minutes.

3.Realize now a series of 10 stronger braking, without stopping, from 30 to 5 km / h.
It is important not to stop between two braking to ventilate the disc and stirrup.

4. Move to the other brake by repeating steps 1 to 3.
